My why: My first 2 births were 39 week inductions that ended with each of my boys needing a short stay in the NICU. I was sort of pushed through the system without much say in what my own preferences were. I still got to bring home healthy babies, but I felt like something was missing. I decided I wanted my daughter’s birth to be different. I took the time to prepare and educate myself, I practiced Hypnobabies, and I hired an awesome DOULA! That beautiful experience opened my eyes to what birth could really be. Not everything went according to plan, but I finally felt like I had a voice. I want every woman to know: You have a voice, and you have the right to be heard. It’s okay to ask why, or what your other options are. It’s okay to ask for a moment to think. Your birthing experience is YOUR experience. Whether it is a natural birth, a medical induction, or a cesarean. The day your baby is born isn’t a day that’s forgotten- not by you.
